Recovering from Eating Disorders in Motherhood with Dr. Linda Shanti McCabe

Tele-conference Line:  (619) 326-2730   /   Pass Code: 9072#

Women everywhere are faced with their appearance being a part of their value. As much as we don't want to admit it, it is part of most woman's reality. Body image myths can play a serious role in the physical and emotional health of women and causes so many women and young girls to the brink of eating disorders. This can play an even more important role as we travel through pregnancy and birth, the body changes so dramatically, so quickly and what nourishes a woman through pregnancy, nourishes the foundation of her unborn child's body.

With Dr. Linda, we'll explore the health of our children through healthy mamas. What it looks like to have a healthy relationship with our birthing vessel, the foods that nourish us through this process and receiving loving support from our community to keep us strong and feeling loved, not shamed along the way.

Fermented foods have been around for thousands of years by cultures all over the world and support so many of our bodily functions; helping us to digest other foods, increasing our immune response as well as give us access to more nutrients. Well if probiotic or fermented foods are so good for us, how do we get our hands on them?

Kitchen Skills: Good for You Sweet Treats

Tele-conference Line:  (619) 326-2730   /   Pass Code: 9072#

I don't know anyone who doesn't have some bit of a sweet tooth. My theory is NOT to avoid sweet treats altogether, that's a sure fire way to splurge on a craving when it hits you at the wrong time and you go with a poor choice.

Rather, I embrace my sweet tooth and make many different kinds of sweet treats that are actually incredibly healthful with loads of sacred and super foods in them.

No one has to feel bad about having a cookie, a bowl of ice cream or a yummy peanut butter or peppermint chocolate cup when they are made with great ingredients!!!

PROMISE!

Kitchen Skills: Packing Lunches

Tele-conference Line:  (619) 326-2730   /   Pass Code: 9072#

Let's admit it... Everyone is pretty darned busy these days. We are always on the go, either in school, at work or going from meeting to meeting.

Lunches are typically thrown for a loop in the middle of our day and don't often receive the attention they need in giving us energy supporting nutrients to keep us going. Eating out can add up too and can consist of a larger part of our budget.

If we are looking for ways to cut costs and improve health, packing our own lunches with meals we've prepared at home can accomplish both! Let's discuss more on this call how we can make packing lunches for ourselves and our children fun and easy.

Alternative Health: WHY a Doula Is a Great Part of Your Support Team with Lora Hart

Tele-conference Line:  (619) 326-2730   /   Pass Code: 9072#

When we are pregnant, there are a million things to be thinking about... When we are giving birth there can feel like sooooo much more.

In birth, we want to be focused on the tasks at hand, the primal nature of childbirth, and being connected to our bodies in the great process of bringing life into the world.

Having a doula in your birth team can be an amazing advocacy. Doulas serve many roles and can absolutely allow you to receive and focus on your birth and feel fully supported in the birthing process.

My dear friend Lora Hart, a doula and midwife apprentice, of My Sisters Hand, is going to discuss in more detail, what a doula's role is or can be in your birth and why it might be a very important decision to include a doula in your birth plan.
